Presently repairing a 17-foot Mako the stringers are rotting and there are dry spots in the woven roving on the floor on the Mako a lot
0:07
Of those had foam on the gunnels They would have a hollow sound especially like in the middle and then you've got foam and then you got glass
0:15
There is nothing really that could go hollow But your stringers are gonna be made out of wood and the transom is gonna be made out of wood

Depending on the year of the boat that would all have to be addressed
0:25
And if the wood rots out and that gets hollow That's a structural part of the boat
0:30
And now that is a serious issue that you are going to need to fix if you're talking about the gunnels
0:35
Then I don't think that's gonna be a problem I would look at the cap under the rub row where the cap sticks down on the hull
0:40
Sometimes would have problems if those split when you're going in the water You can get water up the sides of the gunnels hits the rub rail goes in under the cap and then fills the boat with
0:49
Water so that could be a potential problem and I would definitely be looking at that But it's not gonna have a coring material that has rotted out that is now giving you this hollow sound when you knock on
